July 11, 2009 was one crazy day for me and I honestly did not think that it would actually happen… but it did. And thank goodness it did.

First off, I woke up at 7:30 to get ready (I take forever) and I was out of my house by 10:50. The event started at 12 and I planned on getting there for 12 but Avery’s parents had to pick me up from school (our meeting place); since they ended up being really late they picked me up at about 12:30. When we got to the city, Avery and I were seriously tourist-like and we had no idea how to get anywhere… eventually we figured it out. We got lost in Central Park and I was in a terrible pissy mood for the half hour we wandered but we eventually found a map of the ballparks and got there at about 1:30.

The second we got in I instantly spotted some kids from my school waiting on the line to see Mitchell Davis… might I add that LiveLavaLive was the only YouTuber that I saw that had a line of people waiting. He went on break right when we got there so then next I found Supermac18. Mac and Mitchell were talking and hanging out. Soon after I met Mac and got my first autograph and picture.

Next up was Swifty, SwiftKarateChop. He’s pretty hilarious and jokes around with everyone. He’s also really tall in person, might I add. Picture and autograph number two.

Avery & I walked around a bit and then we bumped into KevJumba. I’ve only seen a few of his videos but Kevin was one of the sweetest people I met at the event; he’s very down to earth and loved talking with everyone. Haha when he asked me what my YouTube username was and I told him, he thought it was funny. He also said that he’d check out my videos but he told that to everyone; it was nice of him though, even though he obviously won’t actually do it. :P

Not far from Kevin was ShayCarl and he had a bunch of adults around him just laughing it up. When I got the opportunity to talk to him, I said, ”I just need to ask you something… can you be my dad?” in which he replied, “I’ve already adopted 12 kids on this trip.” Hahah it’s a reference to this video.

After that we found DaveDays & Ian from Smosh talking together. I told Dave he was a great musician and he said that he “really appreciates it”; he must get that a lot. As for Ian, it was kind of a surprise that he was there because CharlesTrippy bumped into us and was having a conversation with Ian about it… how it was “so great that he could make it to New York on such short notice” and stuff like that. Then Charles and I talked for a minute or so; he told me that Alli had no idea who Smosh was until recently in which I replied “Who DOESN’T know Smosh?!” To be honest I didn’t expect Charles to be so friendly but he was a really cool guy. I asked him if Alli would mind if I got a picture with her too and he said “Are you kidding? She pretends to hate all this but she actually loves the attention today.” I talked to Alli for a second, I told her I watch the “Vloggity Vlogs” and she thought it was really cool and told me to keep watching; she was really sweet.

We eventually left that crowd and wandered away from that section of the gathering and found the Kandy Krew aka VlogCandy; I was super excited! Meghan (Strawburry17) was the first one I was able to talk with; she’s adorable & her hair looks great. Next was Aubrey (HurricaneAubrey), also very sweet. Zack (ZacharyXBinks) was probably the funniest… he has some personality hahah. He was being an absolute goober the whole time. xD Andrew (AndrewBravener) was very quiet but very nice. And John (DudeNeedaEaseOnUp), well he was too cute. When I asked for an autograph he didn’t know what to do. He said, “I want to write DudeNeedaEatSomeSoup, should I?” so I told him to go for it hahah.

After leaving the Kandy Krew, Avery and I got some drinks and he got some food. We took it over to the Mitchell Davis line that stood still haha. There were so many kids there for him. Avery got really annoyed with the swooning girls and I reminded him to thank me for not joining them hahah. Nalts came over and was joking around with Mitchell, then he randomly ran away haha, funny guy. When I finally got up to Mitchell I was pretty nervous, which I was surprised at because I wasn’t really nervous at any other point during the day. I guess when you really admire someone it’s hard to keep your cool. I told him I was friends with Curtis Droppelman and he said, “Well HEY THERE!” haha. I got my picture and autograph and then I told him “I’m sorry, I’m just really nervous, can I have a hug?” and he replied, “Don’t be; I’m just a normal guy” and hugged me. Great moment. Mitchell was really shy when I saw him throughout the day; he’s very to himself unless he’s with people he’s really comfortable with like Swifty or his own friends that he came with.

After that we wandered back into the crowd and I found two other people I watch hanging out together- Petrilude & Zlyoga. Zlyoga is a lesser-known YouTuber but I’ve been watching her videos for a while now and I really enjoy them.

We eventually found Damian (MakeMeBad35) who Avery wanted to meet really badly so he could rub it in people’s faces haha. Since he was bummed that sxephil couldn’t make it, Damian made up for it. Avery was too embarassed to ask him to take a picture with him so I told him “Hey can you take a picture with my friend too? He LOVES you!” xD

All day I was running into everyone I wanted to see except for Michael Buckley (WHATTHEBUCKSHOW) and by 4PM I was worrying that I wasn’t going to see him at all. Avery claims that he saw him before but I ignored him when he told me haha. We caught him just as he was leaving; I told him, “I’ve been looking for you all day!” and he said, “Well thank God you found me!”

I saw Jill Hanner (xGoBoBeanx) all day but I never went up to her until the end. After we took our picture she said something about it being sexy because the wind was blowing haha.

We saw Nalts several times throughout the day but I finally went up to him at the semi-end of the gathering; man is he crazy hahah. When I asked to take a picture with him he said “WHY, KRISTEN, WHY?!”

And that was about it. Avery and I stalked the Kandy Krew because I saw them recording stuff with their Flip cams (we’re not creepy at all, I swear xD).  We also hung around Mitchell Davis some more; I wanted to ask him for another hug before we left but I was embarrassed. I also wanted a picture with the whole Kandy Krew together but yeah… embarrassment haha. It was all good though, I got everything I wanted to begin with so I didn’t need anything else.

So yeah, even though I fell off the huge rocks and cut/ bruised my leg in various places it was so worth it.

Hands down this was one of the best days of my life. Avery and I both can’t wait to go again next year.
